In September 2024, Bahrain’s emergency services saw a significant increase in call volume, with a total of 15,961 calls being handled. This rise from August’s numbers highlights the ongoing and urgent need for emergency response resources across the country. In August, the Emergency Operations Centre processed 15,402 calls, with the majority classified as emergency situations, followed by traffic incidents and security issues.

The Coast Guard was able to effectively manage 131 incidents during this time, while the National Ambulance Service responded to 4,774 calls. The trend of heightened demand for emergency services continued into September, with 66% of calls being general emergency responses, 28% related to traffic incidents, and 6% involving security matters. The Coast Guard operations centre responded to 200 calls, including search and rescue missions, maritime accidents, and requests for assistance, showcasing the varied challenges faced by responders.

The National Ambulance Service attended to 4,778 calls in September, including medical emergencies, patient transfers between hospitals, injuries from traffic accidents, injuries from other incidents, and fire-related injuries. This data highlights the critical role of emergency services in responding to a wide range of incidents and ensuring public safety. The increase in call volume emphasizes the need for continued support and resources to meet the growing demand for emergency response capabilities.

Overall, the surge in call volume in September 2024 underscores the importance of maintaining a robust and responsive emergency services system in Bahrain. The diverse nature of incidents handled by emergency responders illustrates the challenges they face in providing timely and effective assistance to those in need. By recognizing and addressing the ongoing demand for emergency services, authorities can ensure that the necessary resources are available to protect and assist the public in emergency situations.

As the demand for emergency services continues to rise, it is crucial for stakeholders to work together to enhance and expand the capabilities of the Coast Guard, National Ambulance Service, and other emergency responders. By investing in training, equipment, and infrastructure improvements, Bahrain can better prepare for and respond to a wide range of emergencies. This proactive approach is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of the population and maintaining effective emergency response services in the face of increasing demand.
