His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), recently chaired a meeting at Gudaibiya Palace where he commended the outcomes achieved by the EDB through its collaboration with government agencies and the private sector. Emphasizing the importance of investments leading to employment and business opportunities, HRH Prince Salman highlighted the significance of Team Bahrain’s efforts in attracting investments that benefit citizens and align with the Kingdom’s development goals.

During the meeting, the EDB reviewed its achievements in the first half of 2024 and discussed strategies for attracting investments in priority sectors. The Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain EDB, HE Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, shared insights on the direct investments secured by the Board, totaling BHD 399.2 million (USD 1.056 billion) from 62 local and international projects, with a focus on manufacturing, tourism, and financial services sectors. These investments are expected to create over 5,400 job opportunities within the next three years.

Key success stories across priority sectors were presented, including investments from various companies such as Polymatech, Singapore Gulf Bank, ARRAY, Amana Healthcare, and the University of Strathclyde. The meeting also highlighted Bahrain EDB’s international investor outreach efforts across key target markets. The presence of senior officials and members of the Board of Directors, including His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, further emphasized the importance of economic development initiatives in Bahrain.

HRH Prince Salman commended the efforts of the former board members while welcoming the newly appointed members of the Bahrain EDB board, expressing his best wishes for their success in achieving the Board’s economic goals. Underlining the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing economic growth, His Royal Highness encouraged the continuation of joint efforts to deliver vital development projects and achieve shared economic objectives that benefit all. The meeting focused on maintaining momentum in economic growth through collaboration and cooperation among various stakeholders.

In line with Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Salman stressed the importance of investments that create opportunities for citizens and contribute to the overall growth of the economy. The meeting highlighted the role of the EDB in attracting investments that not only bring financial benefits but also lead to job creation and economic opportunities for individuals. By fostering public-private partnerships and focusing on priority sectors, the EDB aims to drive economic growth and development in Bahrain in alignment with the Kingdom’s vision.

The meeting also underscored the EDB’s achievements in securing direct investments and highlighted success stories across key sectors such as manufacturing, tourism, and financial services. Through ongoing efforts to attract investments from local and international companies, the EDB aims to create a conducive environment for economic growth and job creation. With a focus on collaboration and partnership, the Kingdom of Bahrain continues to work towards achieving its economic development goals with the support of key stakeholders and government agencies.
