Oman participates in the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions Assembly

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Audit Institution (SAI), participated in the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) in New Delhi, India. The delegation was led by Sheikh Ghuson Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of SAI Oman. The meeting focused on various key topics, including reviewing the Secretariat’s activities report, approving financial statements, and discussing reports from various working groups.

One of the main highlights of the meeting was the review of the ASOSAI Strategic Plan and Capacity Building Activities report. The delegates also discussed the approval of the ASOSAI budget for the years 2025-2027 and proposed the establishment of new working groups such as the ASOSAI Working Group on State Owned Enterprise, IT Audit and Data Analysis, and Regional and Municipal Audit. Furthermore, members of the ASOSAI Governing Board and Audit Committee for the period 2024-2027 were selected.

During the 9th ASOSAI symposium, Sheikh Ghuson led Oman’s delegation. The SAI Oman delivered a presentation on the role of Omani women in development, the use of modern technology, and the government’s efforts towards gender equality and women’s empowerment in the digital environment. The symposium provided a platform for sharing insights and best practices in the field of audit and governance among member nations.

The participation of Oman in the ASOSAI Assembly demonstrates its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in the region. By actively engaging in discussions and sharing experiences with other member states, Oman aims to strengthen its audit practices and contribute to the advancement of the auditing profession in the Asian region. The delegation’s active involvement in important agenda items reflects Oman’s dedication to upholding international auditing standards and enhancing the effectiveness of its audit institutions.
