As Youth City 2030 is coming to a close with the theme of ‘Out of This World,’ The Daily Tribune visited the site to learn more about the minds behind the event. Ahmed Al Awadhi, who is responsible for social skills and teamwork training, emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between young people and their desire for influence. He noted that the younger generation often feels disconnected and overly reliant on technology, attributing this to an overemphasis on safety by parents. Al Awadhi believes that true learning comes from finding a balance between safety and risk, allowing children to grow by stepping out of their comfort zones.

Ali Al Oraibi leads the research skills workshops at Youth City 2030 and aims to stimulate logical thinking and scientific curiosity in young minds. He mentioned that certain topics, such as gender differences in car maintenance, have engaged the participants and encouraged vibrant discussions. By exploring subjects that resonate with the youth, Al Oraibi believes that they can channel their energy into deeper thinking and foster creativity.

Chief coordinator Hasan Al Mulla highlighted the growing concern among the youth for sustainability issues, including climate change, renewable energy, and pollution. He mentioned that discussions at Youth City 2030 often revolve around these topics and touted last week’s focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a success. The recycling team at the event showcased their accomplishments, with much of the site’s décor being made from repurposed, reused, recycled, or refurbished items.

The emphasis on gender differences in car maintenance at Youth City 2030 reflects the event’s commitment to promoting diversity and empowering young participants to explore a range of topics. Ali Al Oraibi’s approach to encouraging debate and exploration of subjects that matter to the youth underscores the importance of nurturing intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills. By engaging in meaningful discussions and activities, participants can develop a deeper understanding of complex issues and sharpen their creative abilities.

Ahmed Al Awadhi’s view on the need to strike a balance between safety and risk in children’s development resonates with the overarching goal of Youth City 2030 to provide a platform for young people to challenge themselves and grow. By fostering a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and exploration, the event aims to empower participants to overcome their fears and embrace new opportunities. The theme of ‘Out of This World’ serves as a fitting reminder of the limitless potential that lies within each individual, waiting to be unleashed through perseverance and determination.
