The Civil Aviation Authority in Muscat has issued a weather advisory stating that there will be varying intensities of rainfall in the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas from Sunday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The forecast indicates that there will be cumulus cloud activity, thunderstorms, and active descending winds during the afternoon and evening that may lead to the flow of valleys and ravines. Specialists at the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards are closely monitoring the weather conditions and are urging citizens and residents to stay updated by following the issued bulletins and reports.

The predicted rainfall is expected to bring relief to the arid regions of Oman, particularly in the Al Hajar Mountains. The forecasted thunderstorms and active winds may pose risks of flash flooding and landslides in the affected areas. It is essential for residents to take necessary precautions and avoid travelling through flooded areas. The Civil Aviation Authority is advising people to stay indoors during periods of heavy rainfall and to remain vigilant for any potential hazards that may arise.

The National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards is working to ensure the safety of individuals in Oman during this period of erratic weather. By providing timely updates and advisories, the Centre aims to help citizens and residents prepare for the incoming rainfall and potential thunderstorms. It is crucial for everyone to heed the warnings and take appropriate measures to safeguard themselves and their property from any possible damage caused by the adverse weather conditions.

In addition to the rainfall, the Civil Aviation Authority has highlighted the possibility of thunderstorms in the Al Hajar Mountains and neighbouring areas. Thunderstorms can bring strong winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall, which can lead to disruptions in daily activities and pose risks to individuals outdoors. It is recommended to seek shelter indoors during thunderstorms and avoid being near open spaces or tall structures that may attract lightning strikes. By staying informed and following safety guidelines, residents can minimize the impact of thunderstorms on their daily routines.

The Civil Aviation Authority’s weather advisory serves as a reminder for individuals to remain cautious and prepared for unpredictable weather conditions. By staying updated on the latest forecasts and heeding the warnings issued by authorities, residents can protect themselves and their families from potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. It is important to prioritize safety during adverse weather events and to take proactive measures to ensure personal well-being and property protection.

As the rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue until Wednesday, October 9, residents in the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas are advised to stay vigilant and monitor the evolving weather conditions. By following the guidelines provided by the Civil Aviation Authority and the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards, individuals can stay informed and make informed decisions to mitigate the impact of the erratic weather on their daily lives. Despite the potential risks posed by the incoming rainfall and thunderstorms, proactive measures and adherence to safety protocols can help ensure the well-being of everyone in the affected regions.
