As UAE residents prepare for the upcoming week, the National Meteorological Centre (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy skies with a chance of convective cloud formation, particularly in the eastern regions. The chances of isolated rainfall are expected, along with light to moderate winds that may cause blowing dust. Sea conditions will range from slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

The highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 44.8°C in Al Jazeera BG, with temperatures likely to reach 43°C in Abu Dhabi and 39°C in Dubai. Humidity levels are expected to fluctuate between 25 to 75 percent. September is anticipated to be the last month of summer, as temperatures gradually decrease leading up to the autumn equinox.

Autumn, marking the start of milder weather in the UAE, coincides with the autumnal equinox on September 22, 2024. From this date onwards, temperatures are expected to fall below 25°C at night and below 40°C during the day. Night-time cooling will begin when minimum temperatures drop below 20°C, while daytime cooling will start when maximum temperatures are below 30°C.

Winter rainy season in the UAE typically runs from early November to the end of March, with around 22 percent of the annual rainfall occurring in autumn. High humidity during this time leads to fog and dew formation, especially from mid-September to mid-November. Autumn is also ideal for agricultural activities such as planting, farming, and pruning trees. Various fruits and vegetables flourish during this season.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Board Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, highlighted that following the autumnal equinox, day and night will be of equal length in the UAE, with nights progressively becoming longer. Notable star constellations like the ‘Big Dipper’ and the ‘Great Square of Pegasus’ will be visible, along with prominent meteor showers such as Orionids, Leonids, and Geminids. Autumn evenings will offer a spectacular display of celestial events.

As autumn approaches, residents can expect a gradual transition to milder weather with cooler temperatures and the onset of rainfall. The changing seasons offer a variety of activities and natural phenomena to observe and enjoy, making it an exciting time for residents in the UAE. Stay updated on weather forecasts and events to make the most of the autumnal season and experience the beauty of nature in the region.
