A dispute over loud snoring at a shared accommodation in Manama, Bahrain escalated into a violent assault, leaving one worker permanently disabled. The assailant, a 50-year-old Asian heavy vehicle driver, has been charged with assault causing permanent disability after punching the victim, a 52-year-old man of a different nationality, in the mouth. The victim reported that he had asked the defendant to lower his voice or seek medical treatment for his snoring, which led to the assault. The defendant confessed to the attack during the investigation, and a forensic report confirmed the victim’s injuries resulted in a 2% permanent disability. The case is currently being heard in the High Criminal Court.

The incident occurred when the victim, the defendant, and other workers were at their shared accommodation in Manama. The victim found the defendant’s loud snoring disturbing and approached him to ask him to lower his voice or seek treatment. This request sparked anger in the defendant, who then violently struck the victim in the face, causing him to lose some of his teeth. The victim’s injuries were severe enough to result in a 2% permanent disability, as confirmed by a forensic report detailing the blunt force trauma he suffered.

As a result of the assault, the assailant has been charged with assault causing permanent disability. This charge carries serious consequences, as the victim’s injuries have had lasting effects on his physical well-being. The High Criminal Court is currently presiding over the case, with the next hearing scheduled for August 5th to announce the verdict. The defendant’s confession to the attack during the investigation by the Public Prosecution adds weight to the case against him, and the forensic report provides concrete evidence of the severity of the victim’s injuries.

Cases of violence in shared accommodations among workers are unfortunately not uncommon, and they can have long-lasting consequences for those involved. In this particular incident, a dispute over snoring escalated into a violent assault, resulting in a permanent disability for the victim. The impact of such violence can be devastating, not only for the victim but also for their families and the broader community. It is essential for authorities to take such cases seriously and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The assault in this case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts and disagreements in a peaceful and constructive manner. Resorting to violence as a means of resolving disputes can have severe consequences, as demonstrated by the permanent disability suffered by the victim. By promoting peaceful conflict resolution and holding perpetrators accountable, we can work towards creating safer and more harmonious living environments for all individuals.
