In the UAE, having a labour card is a mandatory requirement for all employees. The card is issued either by the free zone where the individual works or by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). It serves as official proof of employment and includes important details such as job title, employer information, and work permit expiry date. Without a valid labour card, individuals are not allowed to work legally in the UAE.

The significance of the labour card extends beyond just residents to also include individuals benefiting from the UAE’s visa amnesty program, which is in operation until October 30th. Thousands of individuals have already been interviewed by various companies under this initiative, and those who secure jobs through the program will require a labour card to start working legally.

Apart from ensuring compliance with employment laws, possessing a labour card provides a sense of security as it validates one’s legal work status in the country. While physical labour cards are no longer issued in the UAE, individuals have the option to download and print a copy if preferred. Some individuals may find having a physical copy more convenient than relying solely on the digital version.

To obtain a labour card, individuals can visit the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) website. By navigating to the ‘New Enquiry Services’ section, individuals can input details such as work permit number, transaction number, personal code, and date of birth to access their electronic labour card. Those who prefer a physical copy can opt to print it directly from the website.

Alternatively, individuals can use the MoHRE app to access their labour card information. By logging in with their UAE Pass and entering the labour card number, individuals can view and print the digital version of their labour card. In case of any uncertainties regarding labour information, individuals can contact MoHRE at 600590000 and provide their Emirates ID number for verification.

To access most of the labour information, individuals can log in to the MoHRE app and view their ‘Dashboard’. However, the transaction number will not be displayed on the app, and individuals will need to refer to their employment contract to obtain this information. Overall, obtaining and keeping track of one’s labour card details is essential for legal work and resident status in the UAE.
