UAE: Three private notaries fined Dh50,000 for violating laws

Private notaries in Abu Dhabi were fined Dh50,000 for failing to comply with regulations set by the Private Notary Affairs Committee of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD). The decision was announced during a meeting chaired by Counselor Yousef Saeed Alabri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, where various applications related to the profession of private notaries were discussed. The Committee also reviewed transaction statistics and survey results showing a high customer satisfaction rate.

The Committee meeting, chaired by the Undersecretary of the Judicial Department, was attended by members including Yousif Hasan Alhosani, Abdulla Saif Zahran, Mohamed Hesham ElRafei, and Khaled Salem Altamimi. The meeting discussed the licensing process of an office to practice as a private notary, the registration of a private notary, and the renewal of registration for a government notary. Additionally, statistics from the first half of the year showed a 92 percent customer satisfaction rate regarding the services provided by private notaries.

Private notaries play a crucial role in legal transactions, ensuring the proper authentication of documents and agreements. They are required to adhere to strict regulations and directives governing their profession to maintain credibility and trust among clients. The recent fine imposed on notaries in Abu Dhabi serves as a reminder of the importance of compliance with laws to uphold the integrity of the profession.

The Private Notary Affairs Committee oversees the licensing, registration, and renewal processes for private notaries in Abu Dhabi.
