The Arab delegation, led by Jamal Al Musharakh, recently met with senior officials from various UN and international organizations in Geneva to discuss the current situation in Lebanon. They highlighted the urgent need to address the consequences of the ongoing military escalation and activate humanitarian response plans.

As the head of the Arab group, Al Musharakh, along with other Arab ambassadors, met with Filippo Grandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to discuss the emerging crisis and its repercussions, such as internal displacement and an increased flow of refugees. The focus was on the urgent response required to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Lebanon.

The delegation also had a meeting with Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, where they emphasized the importance of meeting the medical needs of the Lebanese people and intensifying humanitarian aid and supplies. The discussions underscored the critical nature of providing timely support to address the healthcare challenges in Lebanon.

In addition to these meetings, Al Musharakh and the Arab ambassadors engaged with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). They stressed the need for active involvement from international organizations, especially the ICRC, during this critical time. The importance of adhering to international laws and humanitarian regulations to protect civilians was also highlighted during the discussions.

Overall, the Arab delegation’s engagements with various UN and international organizations in Geneva focused on addressing the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and providing necessary support to alleviate the challenges faced by the Lebanese people. The discussions emphasized the need for urgent action, intensified humanitarian aid, and adherence to international laws to ensure the protection and well-being of civilians in the region.

In conclusion, the Arab delegation’s efforts in Geneva reflect a commitment to supporting Lebanon during this challenging time and working collaboratively with international organizations to address the humanitarian crisis. By engaging with key officials and highlighting the urgency of the situation, the delegation is advocating for swift action and increased support to meet the needs of the Lebanese population and mitigate the impact of the ongoing military escalation. The discussions underscore the importance of cooperation and solidarity in responding to humanitarian crises and upholding international humanitarian principles.
