UAE: Nol card discounts, limited-edition ice cream to celebrate Dubai Metro’s 15th anniversary

The Dubai Metro is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a range of exciting events and initiatives for residents and visitors. The iconic public transport system has been a staple in Dubai since it first started operating on September 9, 2009. The anniversary celebrations, under the theme “15 Years on Track,” will include limited-edition items, special events, discounted Nol cards, and more to bring joy to the community.

Residents can look forward to a variety of activities and surprises during the anniversary celebrations. Limited edition post stamps will be issued by Emirates Post, while a special edition Nol card with an exclusive design by Lego Middle East and the 15th anniversary campaign logo will also be available. Metro-related souvenirs by Al Jaber Gallery will be on offer, and Legoland Dubai will host a celebration on September 21, 2024, specifically for “Metro babies” – children born on September 9 from 2009 to 2023. Additionally, a limited edition Metro-shaped Igloo ice cream will be sold, with special codes on the sticks that can be redeemed for Nol Terhaal discount cards. Musical performances by Emirati and international musicians will also take place at Metro stations as part of the 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival from September 21 to September 27.

The anniversary celebrations highlight the importance of the Dubai Metro as a vital and iconic part of the city’s public transport system. Over the years, residents have experienced the evolution of the Metro, with the station announcements serving as a nostalgic reminder of its journey. The driverless train has become a symbol of innovation and efficiency, providing a convenient and reliable mode of transportation for commuters in Dubai.

As part of the “15 Years on Track” theme, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) aims to bring joy and excitement to residents and visitors through a series of entertainment activities and surprises.
