UAE: Mouza Al Suwaidi appointed as secretary-general of the Gender Balance Council

The UAE Cabinet has appointed Mouza Al Suwaidi as the Secretary-General of the Gender Balance Council, a significant step towards promoting women’s leadership and empowerment in the country. With over 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, including roles at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai and the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Al Suwaidi brings a wealth of expertise to her new position. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University in the USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences from the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, commended the leadership’s commitment to supporting women and enhancing their roles as leaders and decision-makers. She emphasized the importance of leveraging women’s capabilities to drive competitiveness, creativity, and innovation across various sectors. The appointment of Al Suwaidi as Secretary-General aligns with the leadership’s dedication to empowering Emirati women and investing in national human resources. Sheikha Manal expressed confidence in Al Suwaidi’s ability to contribute value to the council and build on its achievements.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, highlighted the council’s new structure, bringing together talented Emiratis from diverse fields to drive gender balance efforts and elevate the UAE’s global ranking. Under Sheikha Manal’s leadership and in collaboration with federal and local partners, the council aims to reinforce gender balance across sectors, contributing to sustainable economic growth and social development. Aligned with the UAE leadership’s vision for development, this transformative phase will have a significant impact on national progress and global recognition.

Expressing gratitude to the UAE leadership for entrusting her with this crucial role, Al Suwaidi reiterated her commitment to empowering women and enhancing national progress. She acknowledged the responsibility that comes with the position and pledged to work towards the vision of the nation’s leadership, focused on gender balance and empowerment. Al Suwaidi looks forward to collaborating with the council members and leveraging their expertise to drive continued progress in promoting gender balance and women’s empowerment in the UAE.
