The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated by the Indian community in Bahrain at the Embassy of India, Bahrain with a flag-hoisting ceremony presided by His Excellency Vinod K Jacob, the Ambassador of India to Bahrain. Over 800 members of the Indian community in Bahrain participated in the event, which included offering flowers to Mahatma Gandhi and reading out the President of India’s message. Ambassador Jacob emphasized the deep ties between Bahrain and India, expressing gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for releasing Indian prisoners under a royal pardon.

The Ambassador also highlighted the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s economic growth and development. He discussed various initiatives undertaken by the Embassy to strengthen ties and growth within the Indian community in Bahrain, including the ‘Focus State’ and the ‘Visit Embassy’ programmes. The second phase of these initiatives will focus on youth empowerment, inviting students to engage directly with embassy officers and participate in interactive sessions.

The Embassy of India in Bahrain is hosting two photo exhibitions, one showcasing the heroism of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War and the other highlighting the impact of the partition to commemorate Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Ambassador Jacob planted a neem sapling in the Embassy as part of “A Tree in Mother’s Name”, a campaign initiated by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Commemorative messages for the 78th Independence Day were issued through various media outlets in Bahrain, emphasizing the milestones achieved by India and the strides made in India-Bahrain bilateral relations.

The Independence Day of India was also celebrated at The Indian Club premises with a hoisting of the national flag and singing of the Indian National Anthem. The event brought together members of the Indian community in Bahrain, showcasing their patriotic spirit and unity in celebrating India’s independence. The celebrations included various cultural activities and programs to mark the occasion, highlighting the strong bond between the Indian community in Bahrain and their homeland.

Overall, the 78th Independence Day celebration at the Embassy of India, Bahrain was a momentous occasion for the Indian community in Bahrain, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds to commemorate India’s freedom. The event underscored the deep-rooted ties between India and Bahrain, as well as the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the growth and development of both nations. Through various initiatives and programs, the Embassy aims to foster stronger ties within the Indian community in Bahrain and empower youth to become future leaders and ambassadors of India’s rich culture and heritage.
