The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Qatar, H E Dr. Mustafa Goksu, has applauded the speech delivered by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during the 79th United Nations General Assembly. Ambassador Goksu praised the Amir’s statement on the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that power does not nullify rights and that the end of occupation and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination is not a favor or a gift from anyone. He also highlighted the alignment of Turkiye’s vision with the sentiments expressed in the Amir’s speech, particularly regarding the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Ambassador Goksu further noted the Amir’s warning that the ongoing war in Gaza has fired the coup de grace at international legitimacy, calling on world leaders to fulfill their historical responsibilities. He mentioned that Turkish President Erdogan echoed similar points in his speech at the UNGA, emphasizing the need for world leaders to consider the values represented by the motto “The world is bigger than five.” The Ambassador commended Qatar for its significant role in mediating complex issues, specifically its efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, and highlighted the Emir’s stance on mediation and humanitarian work as strategic political choices.

On the other hand, Ambassador of India to Qatar, H E Vipul, expressed his interest in the Amir’s speech at the UN General Assembly, highlighting Qatar’s efforts under the leadership of the Amir in mediation and resolution of global issues. He praised the Amir’s focus on peace and stability, which are crucial objectives of the UN Charter, and emphasized the importance of global challenges such as sustainable development and new technologies. Ambassador Vipul mentioned his optimism about India and Qatar collaborating on the priorities outlined in the Amir’s speech.

Ambassador of Vietnam to Qatar, H E Nguyen Huy Hiep, also lauded the Amir’s speech at the 79th UN General Assembly, noting the widespread attention it garnered for reflecting Qatar’s clear stance and determination to build peace, promote cooperation, and development. He highlighted the Amir’s emphasis on the burning issue of Palestine, stressing the need for a ceasefire agreement and a comprehensive, fair, and lasting solution. Ambassador Hiep commended Qatar’s efforts in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and providing humanitarian and development aid to facilitate peaceful resolutions of disputes based on international law. He praised Qatar’s sense of responsibility and active participation in resolving regional and global challenges under the Amir’s leadership.
