The Saudi Games 2024 torch was lit in Diriyah, marking the start of the national sporting event set to take place in Riyadh from October 3 to 17. The torch relay, symbolizing unity and hope, will travel across all regions of Saudi Arabia, showcasing the country’s cultural, historical, and tourist landmarks. The relay will end on September 23, coinciding with Saudi National Day.

Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Abdullah, the governor of Diriyah, presided over the launch ceremony, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent. The event was attended by former football captain Ahmed Eid and Taekwondo athlete Dunia Abutaleb. Established in 2022, the Saudi Games aims to encourage a more active and healthy society. This year’s edition features competitions in 53 sports with a total prize pool of SR200 million.
