Tamkeen, the Labour Fund in Bahrain, has announced a crackdown on abuse of its wage support programmes through a comprehensive approach to strengthen oversight procedures. Since the beginning of the year, over 237 violations have been uncovered during more than 2,450 inspection visits. This proactive approach aims to ensure the integrity of the wage support programmes, safeguarding their effectiveness and promoting fair employment practices.

In a statement, Tamkeen highlighted its multi-pronged approach, which includes strengthening legal frameworks governing oversight and monitoring procedures, refining collaborative mechanisms with relevant authorities, and granting some employees the authority of judicial officers to enhance enforcement. Additionally, a new comprehensive plan has been launched to double inspection efforts, focusing on intensified inspections of businesses and individuals receiving wage support, regular communication with beneficiaries, increased coordination with the Ministry of Labour, and the establishment of a hotline for reporting abuses.

The success of these enhanced measures is evident in the detection of over 237 violations in just over 2,450 inspections. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the new oversight strategy and Tamkeen’s commitment to combatting abuse within its programmes. By cracking down on illegal employment practices, Tamkeen is reinforcing its commitment to promoting fair employment practices and ensuring the efficiency of its wage support programmes.

By implementing these new oversight standards, Tamkeen is taking a proactive approach to addressing potential misuse and abuse within its wage support programmes. The fund’s dedication to developing and implementing robust oversight procedures underscores its commitment to promoting fair and legal employment practices in Bahrain. Through increased collaboration with relevant authorities and regular communication with beneficiaries, Tamkeen is working to ensure compliance and prompt action on identified cases of abuse.

The comprehensive plan launched by Tamkeen includes intensified inspections of businesses and individuals receiving wage support, as well as increased coordination with the Ministry of Labour and other relevant entities. By establishing a dedicated hotline for reporting suspected abuses, Tamkeen is encouraging individuals to come forward and report any violations. This approach not only strengthens oversight and monitoring procedures but also fosters transparency and accountability within the programme.

In conclusion, Tamkeen’s crackdown on abuse of its wage support programmes is a testament to its commitment to promoting fair employment practices and safeguarding the effectiveness of the programmes. Through a multi-pronged approach that includes strengthening legal frameworks, refining collaborative mechanisms, and increasing inspection efforts, Tamkeen is working to combat abuse and ensure compliance with programme guidelines. By implementing these enhanced measures, Tamkeen is demonstrating its dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity within its programmes.
