Artificial intelligence is poised to revolutionize the way laws are made in Bahrain, as the Shura Council gears up for its third convening period. With guidance from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Council aims to incorporate AI into its legislative process to enhance efficiency and modernization. Karima Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, emphasized that the royal speech will serve as a guiding principle for the upcoming legislative session.

In preparation for the third session of the sixth legislative term, efforts are focused on utilizing the latest technologies to improve efficiency across various administrative areas. The strategic plan for 2024-2026 includes initiatives to manage sessions, facilitate information exchange, and digitize reports. Additionally, a parliamentary support program is in the works for members, providing organized sessions and discussion groups on important national issues.

To address organizational needs for sessions and committee meetings, the General Secretariat is ready to assist Council members in fulfilling their national responsibilities. Meetings have been held with officials to review departmental progress and ensure a smooth start to the session, which will be presided over by HM King Hamad. Collaboration with the Council of Representatives on shared services is also taking place to streamline operations during the session.

Various measures have been put in place to guarantee the seamless functioning of Council activities, including the integration of technology such as AI. This will help effectively manage and organize meetings, provide easy access to information, and support analysis. The upcoming agenda will focus on integrating AI into legislative processes and developing the necessary legal framework to support this innovative initiative.

Overall, the Shura Council is embracing the use of AI to enhance its legislative work and ensure greater efficiency in lawmaking. By adapting to changes in technology and implementing new initiatives, the Council is taking steps towards modernization and meeting its strategic goals for 2024-2026. With support from the General Secretariat and collaboration with other government bodies, the Council is poised for a successful third convening period under HM King Hamad’s guidance.
