Secretary General of Defence Ministry and Chief of Staff of SAF meet with UK official

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence in Muscat, recently received Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, Senior Adviser to the British Ministry of Defence for Middle East Affairs, and his accompanying military delegation. The meeting focused on exchanging views and discussing matters of common interest, with Brigadier Ahmed Ibrahim Ambu Saidi, Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense, in attendance. Additionally, a number of senior Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) officers and the Military Attaché of the British embassy in Muscat were present during the meeting.

Moreover, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the SAF, also welcomed Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren and his delegation at Al Murtafa’a Garrison. The two sides engaged in discussions surrounding various military matters of mutual concern, with Brigadier Hamed Abdullah Al Balushi, SAF Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, joining the meeting. Senior COSAF officers and the Military Attaché of the British embassy in Muscat were also in attendance, further facilitating conversations between the two military delegations.

The exchange between the Omani and British military officials underscores the strong bilateral ties and cooperation in defense and security between the two nations. The discussions likely centered around shared interests in regional security, counterterrorism efforts, and military cooperation. Such interactions are crucial in strengthening partnerships and enhancing military capabilities through information sharing and joint training exercises.

This meeting highlights the ongoing collaboration between Oman and the United Kingdom in defense and security matters.
