Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, is making significant strides in the production and export of green and clean hydrogen. At the 8th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh, the minister highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to diversifying its economy and creating job opportunities. The three-day summit, with the theme of “Infinite horizons: Investing today, shaping tomorrow” aims to spark discussions on how investment can drive a prosperous and sustainable future. Prince Abdulaziz emphasized the importance of exporting all types of energy, utilizing the circular carbon economy, and venturing into manufacturing and exporting engineered products to boost economic diversity and create value and job opportunities.

The minister revealed that Saudi Arabia has achieved record numbers in renewable energy generation prices, with plans to provide 20 gigawatts of renewable energy annually. The Kingdom has already produced 44 gigawatts of renewable energy since 2020, positioning itself as a leader in energy transformation. Saudi Arabia is also focusing on expanding its gas network to ensure industrial cities have a reliable supply. Prince Abdulaziz highlighted the Kingdom’s rapid progress in energy transformation, comparable to what OECD countries have achieved in 50 years. Plans are also underway to launch a carbon market with the Public Investment Fund and secure mineral needs with Maaden globally.

The Future Investment Initiative serves as a platform for global leaders, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers to discuss new strategies to address global challenges. This year’s conference will explore the role of Africa in the global economy, enhance the participation of women in leadership positions, and delve into practical aspects of investments. FII8 aims to spark innovative ideas and challenge attendees to think beyond conventional limits, exploring investment opportunities that bridge current challenges with future possibilities. With a focus on sustainability, energy, geoeconomics, and beyond, the conference promises to be a melting pot of groundbreaking discussions and collaborations.

Saudi Arabia’s commitment to becoming a leading producer of green and clean hydrogen aligns with its vision of diversifying the economy and creating job opportunities through energy transformation. The Kingdom’s focus on renewable energy generation, gas expansion, and carbon market launches demonstrate its dedication to sustainable development. By leveraging its resources and partnerships, Saudi Arabia aims to not only secure its energy future but also contribute to global efforts in combating climate change. The Future Investment Initiative serves as a testament to the Kingdom’s determination to shape a prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come.
