Saudi Arabia and Maldives sign agreement to improve aviation safety in seaports and on seaplanes

Saudi Arabia and the Maldives have taken a significant step towards enhancing aviation safety and security by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on seaports and seaplanes. The MoU, signed between the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Maldives, aims to develop safety and security regulations for water aerodromes and seaplanes in line with international best practices. This collaboration comes in the context of the Red Sea project, a mega initiative led by the Red Sea Development Company to create sustainable, world-class tourism destinations.

The event where the MoU was signed was hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, and Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of GACA. The Red Sea International Airport, a key component of the Red Sea project, is set to become a crucial gateway for luxury tourism, solidifying Saudi Arabia’s position as a global leader in innovation and sustainable development. The visit by Captain Mohamed Ameed, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Maldives, concluded with a shared commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of aviation through innovative regulatory frameworks and strengthened international cooperation.

The signing of the MoU between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives signifies a strong partnership in enhancing aviation safety and security, particularly in the areas of seaports and seaplanes.
