The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have joined forces with the support of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) to provide essential humanitarian aid to Palestinian workers and patients from Gaza who are currently stranded in the West Bank. With a generous donation of USD 4.5 million from QFFD, more than 4,400 beneficiaries will receive much-needed cash assistance, highlighting the commitment of both organizations to supporting one of the most vulnerable populations in the region.

The partnership agreement between UNRWA, QRCS, and QFFD aims to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian refugees who have been displaced and unable to return to Gaza since the outbreak of violence in October 2023. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Aseeri, the Acting Director-General of QFFD, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. By providing essential humanitarian assistance, QFFD demonstrates its ongoing dedication to humanitarian causes globally and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people during these challenging times.

Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, expressed gratitude for the timely assistance from QFFD and QRCS, acknowledging the dire situation faced by thousands of Palestinian refugees trapped in the West Bank. With ongoing conflict in Gaza and escalating violence in the West Bank, support from partners like QRCS and QFFD is crucial in enabling UNRWA to assist those most in need. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of international cooperation in providing aid to vulnerable populations affected by crises.

Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi, the Secretary-General of QRCS, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting humanitarian causes globally, particularly in Palestine. QRCS has been at the forefront of humanitarian aid efforts in the region, working closely with UNRWA on various projects to improve living conditions and enhance resilience among Palestinian communities. The partnership with QFFD has been instrumental in making a tangible difference in the lives of millions of people worldwide, demonstrating the impact of strategic collaborations in addressing humanitarian needs.

Overall, the partnership agreement between UNRWA, QRCS, and QFFD signifies a concerted effort to provide critical assistance to Palestinian refugees in the West Bank. By pooling resources and expertise, these organizations aim to alleviate the suffering of those most affected by conflict and displacement. Through their commitment to humanitarian causes, they demonstrate the importance of global solidarity and cooperation in supporting vulnerable populations in times of crisis. The generous donation from QFFD reflects a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need, underscoring the importance of collective action in addressing humanitarian challenges.
