The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Korea recently organized an event titled ‘Qatar Day’ to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event, held in collaboration with the Korean Association of Middle Eastern Studies and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, was attended by Ambassador H E Khalid bin Ebrahim Al Hamar, as well as other prominent figures in academia and research.

The ‘Qatar Day’ event featured a cultural exhibition showcasing Qatari culture, a photo exhibition highlighting the country’s heritage and landmarks, and a traditional Qatari tent. Additionally, there was a competition for Korean students specializing in Arabic language, translation, and Middle Eastern studies. Students wrote essays about the State of Qatar and participated in presentation competitions on topics related to Qatar’s culture, society, and economy.

The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including Qatar’s nature, geography, and history, its heritage, traditions, culture, and international sporting events like the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Asian Cup. The presentations also touched on Qatar’s natural gas exports to the Republic of Korea and prospects for cooperation between the two countries in defence industries and technology. The event aimed to deepen understanding and strengthen the ties between Qatar and Korea.

Ambassador Al Hamar emphasized that the relations between Qatar and Korea have evolved into a partnership. He praised the efforts of the students and presented awards to the winners of the essay and presentation competitions. The event was a success, with a large turnout of academics, researchers, and individuals interested in Middle Eastern studies and languages, showcasing the growing interest and collaboration between Qatar and Korea.

In conclusion, the ‘Qatar Day’ event organized by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Korea was a significant milestone in commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event highlighted the rich Qatari culture, heritage, and landmarks, as well as opportunities for cooperation in various fields between Qatar and Korea. Ambassador Al Hamar’s presence and recognition of the students’ efforts underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships and fostering greater understanding between nations. The event served as a platform for cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and building bridges between Qatar and Korea.
