Qatar leads meeting of GCC Permanent Committee on Combating Terrorism.

The 17th meeting of the Permanent Committee for Combating Terrorism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries was recently held in Riyadh, with the State of Qatar chairing the event. The two-day meeting took place at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters, and was attended by representatives from all GCC member states. Qatar was represented by Colonel Khalid Ali Al Kaabi, Secretary of the National Counter-Terrorism Committee at the Ministry of Interior.

During the meeting, various agenda items related to combating terrorism in the region were discussed, and important decisions were made to enhance cooperation among GCC countries in the fight against terrorism. The meeting highlighted the ongoing commitment of GCC member states to working together to address the threat of terrorism and extremism, and to promote peace and security in the region.

Qatar’s role in chairing the meeting demonstrates the country’s dedication to combating terrorism and its commitment to regional security. The State of Qatar has played an active role in promoting counter-terrorism efforts in the GCC, and actively participates in international initiatives to combat terrorism and extremism.

The Permanent Committee for Combating Terrorism plays a crucial role in coordinating and implementing counter-terrorism strategies and initiatives among GCC countries. By bringing together representatives from all member states, the committee facilitates cooperation and information sharing to effectively combat terrorism and extremist ideologies in the region.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for Qatar to showcase its own efforts in combating terrorism, including its comprehensive national strategy to prevent and counter terrorism and its ongoing cooperation with international partners to address the global threat of terrorism. Qatar’s participation in the meeting reaffirmed its commitment to working with other GCC countries to address common security challenges.

Overall, the 17th meeting of the Permanent Committee for Combating Terrorism in the GCC countries served as a platform for enhancing regional cooperation and coordination in the fight against terrorism. The discussions and decisions made during the meeting will contribute to strengthening the collective efforts of GCC member states to combat terrorism and promote stability and security in the region.
