The State of Qatar has been granted membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term of 2025-2027, following overwhelming support from 167 countries in a recent election held at the UN General Assembly in New York. In a statement, the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, expressed the country’s pride in this achievement. She highlighted the global recognition of Qatar’s unwavering commitment to protecting and promoting human rights on both national and international stages.
