Prince Khalid bin Salman discusses military cooperation with Italian companies

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with the heads of major Italian industrial companies to explore opportunities for cooperation in military industries, research, and development. The discussions also touched on technology transfer and localization in line with Vision 2030. This meeting took place during Prince Khalid bin Salman’s official visit to Italy to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss common interests.

The meeting included Gen. Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili, chief of the General Staff; Dr. Khaled Al-Bayari, assistant minister for executive affairs; and other officials from the Saudi Ministry of Defense. On the Italian side, Rtd Lt. Gen. Enzo Vecciarelli, advisor to the Minister for Military Industrial Policies, and representatives from major Italian companies like Leonardo, Fincantieri, and ELT Group were also present. Discussions focused on potential collaborations and strategies for mutual benefit.

During the visit, Prince Khalid bin Salman also met with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. They discussed opportunities for cooperation in the defense sector and ways to strengthen their partnership. Regional and global developments were also on the agenda, highlighting the importance of maintaining strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Italy. The discussions aimed to enhance cooperation and promote shared interests.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense is keen on building partnerships with major Italian companies to advance military industries and research capabilities. The focus on technology transfer and localization aligns with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s blueprint for economic and social transformation. This collaboration has the potential to create significant opportunities for both countries in terms of innovation and growth.

The bilateral meetings between Saudi and Italian officials underscore the importance of fostering relationships and exploring avenues for cooperation.
