The Sultanate of Oman is prioritizing the preservation of its cultural identity, values, and heritage through its Ministry of Education. Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, Chairman of the Education and Research Committee at the State Council, emphasized the importance of linking concepts, knowledge, and skills to economic and social development while preserving national identity. Educational institutions are seen as crucial in maintaining the rich Omani heritage, including traditions, crafts, and customs.

Private and public schools are essential in showcasing and nurturing Omani heritage, which is intertwined with various arts related to religious and social events. Dr. Al Sarmi highlighted the importance of incorporating Omani heritage into all school subjects, not just limiting it to history, geography, and national education. He suggested that the Arabic Language, Mathematics, and science subjects could also incorporate aspects of heritage to instill a sense of pride in students regarding their history and cultural heritage.

To further strengthen students’ national identity, the Ministry of Education has established the Citizenship Department, which aims to boost national identity among students. Additionally, the Religious Culture Division within the Islamic Education Department focuses on religious awareness, fostering good values, and promoting a culture of tolerance among students. These initiatives are essential in ensuring that the next generation feels a sense of pride in their Omani identity.

It is crucial for general education establishments to find innovative ways to connect children with their heritage, customs, traditions, and traditional crafts. By incorporating Omani heritage into various subjects, students can gain a deeper understanding of their culture and history. The goal is to create a generation of Omanis who are proud of their heritage and identity, which is essential for the nation’s continued development and growth.

The rich Omani heritage is not limited to traditional crafts and customs, but also extends to various arts related to religious and social events. It is important for educational institutions to showcase and preserve this heritage, as it plays a vital role in shaping the cultural identity of the nation. By instilling a sense of pride in students regarding their history and heritage, Oman can ensure the preservation of its unique cultural identity for generations to come.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Education in Oman is committed to preserving the nation’s cultural identity and heritage through various initiatives and departments. By incorporating Omani heritage into school subjects and fostering a sense of pride in students regarding their history, the nation is ensuring that its rich cultural legacy is passed on to future generations. These efforts are crucial in maintaining Oman’s unique identity and values in an ever-changing world.
