The Sultanate of Oman has made significant progress in the field of innovation, ranking 74th on the Global Innovation Index 2024 out of 133 countries assessed. Oman’s highest performance was in the indicators of “Human Capital and Research” and “Infrastructure”. This achievement is a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and investing in education and research. The World Intellectual Property Organization’s report highlights Oman’s progression to the 59th innovation input rank, marking an increase of 6 ranks from the previous assessment.

Oman’s strong performance in the Global Innovation Index can be attributed to several key factors. The country ranked among the top 20 countries in 3 sub-indicators, including “Policy stability for doing business”, “Graduates in science and engineering”, and “Electricity output”. Oman’s 12th place ranking in the “Policy stability for doing business” sub-indicator signifies a favorable environment for businesses to thrive and innovate. Additionally, Oman’s 2nd place ranking in the “Graduates in science and engineering” sub-indicator reflects the country’s investment in developing a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation in various industries.

One of the key areas where Oman excelled in the Global Innovation Index was in the “Infrastructure” indicator. The country’s 16th place ranking in the “Electricity output” sub-indicator highlights Oman’s robust infrastructure and ability to provide reliable power supply to support innovative ventures.
