The Ministry of Municipality in Doha, Qatar is taking proactive steps to enhance cleanliness awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle in the community by organizing various activities to celebrate World Cleanup Day. With the theme “Cleanliness is Everyone’s Responsibility,” the Public Hygiene Department, supervised by the office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs, is hosting a series of events at the Mall of Qatar from September 18-24. These events include morning sessions for school students and evening sessions for the general public, featuring sustainable booth displays, interactive exhibits, and informative lectures on public cleanliness laws, recycling, and the ministry’s inspection roles. Additionally, entertaining competitions are being held to engage participants and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

In addition to awareness activities, the ministry has introduced a waste sorting program and initiated multiple cleaning campaigns for beaches and islands across Qatar, involving various institutions and communities. The World Cleanup Day celebrations have led to the establishment of a week-long schedule for nine cleaning campaigns at locations such as Abu Samra Beach, Zekreet, Al Wakra Public Beach, Al Dhakira, Simaisma Family Beach, Al Kharaij, Freha, Al Khuwair Island, and the North Corniche. The first cleanup campaign at Abu Samra Beach has already taken place, with ongoing efforts to execute the remaining scheduled cleanups throughout the week. These initiatives aim to foster a sense of responsibility and community involvement in maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces for the well-being of all residents.

As part of the World Cleanup Day activities, the ministry is collaborating with various institutions and expatriate communities in Qatar to ensure the success of the cleaning campaigns. The involvement of different groups and individuals underscores the importance of collective action in preserving the environment and promoting sustainable practices. By engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, the ministry is able to reach a wider audience and mobilize support for ongoing cleanliness initiatives. The participation of people with disabilities in the activities is also highlighted, with workshops, educational sessions, competitions, and gifts being offered at KidzMondo, Mall of Qatar, to provide an inclusive and interactive experience for all participants.

The focus on waste sorting and recycling in the awareness activities highlights the importance of sustainable practices in ensuring a clean and healthy environment for current and future generations. By promoting proper waste management methods and the reduction of littering, the ministry is working towards creating a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly society. The emphasis on education and engagement through workshops, competitions, and interactive displays aims to inspire individuals to take ownership of their surroundings and actively contribute to the preservation of public spaces. These efforts align with global initiatives for environmental conservation and underscore Qatar’s commitment to promoting a cleaner and greener future for all.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Municipality in Doha, Qatar’s initiatives for World Cleanup Day demonstrate a commitment to fostering cleanliness awareness and promoting a healthy lifestyle among all community members. Through a series of informative lectures, interactive exhibits, and cleaning campaigns, the ministry is engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders to encourage collective action in maintaining public spaces. By prioritizing waste sorting, recycling, and sustainability, the ministry is working towards creating a more environmentally-conscious society that values cleanliness and community involvement. The inclusion of people with disabilities in the activities underscores the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in promoting environmental awareness and active participation. Overall, Qatar’s efforts for World Cleanup Day serve as a positive example of proactive and collaborative initiatives to enhance cleanliness and sustainability in the community.
