The Ministry of Social Development and Family in Doha, Qatar is set to launch an awareness campaign on the International Year of the Family with the slogan “Family is The Treasure of a Nation.” The campaign aims to promote family cohesion and compassion through various activities targeting parents and school students. The initiative will involve key parties such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Family Consulting Center to hold workshops and raise awareness about the importance of strengthening family bonds.

The campaign seeks to enhance collaboration among national entities to promote complementary roles and reinforce values such as compassion, which has positive impacts on families and communities. An introductory meeting will be held for school principals and students to inform them about the campaign’s objectives and emphasize the importance of compassion among family members. The meeting will also address the significance of the family unit, the importance of family cohesion, and the promotion of religious and moral values to address family challenges.

Director of the Family Development Department at MSDF, Dhabiya Al Muqbali, highlighted the significance of the family in shaping a child’s personality. She stressed the role of families and educational institutions in instilling virtues in younger generations to build a better future. Al Muqbali also emphasized the importance of community partnership in promoting values and the combined efforts of government and private institutions in instilling these values in society.

Head of the initiative and community partnership department at the Ministry of Interior’s Community Police Department, Lieutenant Colonel Jarallah Salem Al Nabit, emphasized the need for cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and MSDF to address social and family issues. This will be achieved through awareness programs, lectures, and security exhibitions to monitor negative behaviors and enhance a sense of belonging in the community. Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at MoEHE, Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the role of families in a child’s upbringing for academic and social success.

The participation of the Family Consulting Center (Wifaq) in the awareness campaign underscores the importance of family cohesion in family stability and bond strengthening. Acting Director of the Community Awareness Department at Wifaq, Lulwa Al Yazidi, discussed the center’s involvement in promoting the importance of family unity and compassion through various educational activities targeting parents and school students. The campaign is in line with Qatar’s preparations to host an international conference marking the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family.
