The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Doha, Qatar recently honored 120 students from the Tomouh Programme for the academic year 2023-2024. The programme, which began in 2009, aims to encourage students at Qatar University’s College of Education to pursue a career in teaching and become valuable assets for the Ministry of Education. The Undersecretary of MoEHE, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, expressed that the programme has been successful in attracting students, especially females, to the teaching profession. Recently, there has been an increase in students willing to join the programme due to the incentives and awareness campaigns organized by MoEHE.

Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of expanding the Tomouh Programme to other universities, such as Lusail University and the University of Doha for Science and Technology, to draw in more teachers from both genders. He also mentioned plans to attract students studying educational majors abroad to join the programme. The focus is on ensuring that these students play a significant role in the educational and pedagogical career in Qatar and contribute to sustainable development. The recent celebration aimed at honoring and connecting the excelled students with MoEHE as they prepare to join the Ministry after graduation.

Noura Al Ansari, Acting Director of the Scholarships Department at MoEHE, congratulated the honorees for their achievements. The Ministry is committed to recognizing and supporting students who excel in the Tomouh Programme, as they are seen as future leaders in the field of education in Qatar. By providing incentives and awareness campaigns, MoEHE aims to attract more students to the teaching profession and ensure a steady supply of male and female teachers for the country’s educational system. The programme not only honors outstanding students but also prepares them for a successful career in education.

As Qatar continues to invest in its education sector, programs like Tomouh play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country. By encouraging young students to pursue a career in teaching, MoEHE is not only addressing the current demand for educators but also preparing a new generation of skilled and passionate teachers. Through partnerships with various universities and the expansion of the programme, Qatar is creating a pathway for students to contribute significantly to the development of the education sector and society as a whole. The recognition and support given to students through the Tomouh Programme are essential for building a strong foundation for the future of education in Qatar.

In conclusion, the Tomouh Programme in Qatar has been instrumental in attracting students to the teaching profession and providing them with the necessary support to excel in their careers. The recent honors ceremony is a testament to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing talented individuals who will play a vital role in Qatar’s education sector. By expanding the programme and reaching out to students both locally and internationally, MoEHE is paving the way for a more robust and inclusive educational system. The success of the Tomouh Programme highlights the importance of investing in students and empowering them to become leaders in education and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.
