The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Doha, Qatar, has introduced the ‘Tamkeen’ training pathway under the ‘Tamheen’ program. The initiative is geared towards enhancing the skills and qualifications of administrative staff in public schools and the ministry, with the goal of preparing them to transition into teaching roles. The program offers a comprehensive training curriculum overseen by experts from the Training and Development Center and relevant ministry departments, emphasizing the importance of providing high-quality training opportunities for professionals in the education sector.

Individuals interested in joining the ‘Tamkeen’ pathway have until September 19, 2024, to submit their applications. The training is scheduled to begin in October 2024 and run through May 2025, during which participants will receive their full salary and financial allowances. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to transition to academic staff positions, making it a promising avenue for career advancement within the education field.

To be eligible for the ‘Tamkeen’ pathway, applicants must be current administrative employees in public schools or the ministry, Qatari citizens, children of Qatari women, or GCC nationals. They must also hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-educational field and have a performance evaluation rating of ‘Very Good’ or above for the past two years. Additionally, candidates will need to pass an Arabic language test, submit a motivational essay explaining their desire to join the pathway, and successfully complete a personal interview as part of the application process.

The introduction of the ‘Tamkeen’ pathway is a key component of the broader ‘Tamheen’ program, which aims to attract Qatari graduates without educational backgrounds and prepare them for teaching roles. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Strategy 2024-2030, which seeks to recruit and retain national talent in teaching positions, in line with the Third National Development Strategy and the Qatar National Vision 2030. By investing in the professional development of individuals interested in pursuing teaching careers, the program contributes to the long-term vision and goals of the nation.

Overall, the ‘Tamkeen’ pathway offers a unique opportunity for administrative staff in public schools and the ministry to transition into teaching roles through a structured and comprehensive training program. By equipping professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills, and practical experience, the initiative not only supports individual career growth but also contributes to the broader goals of the education sector in Qatar. With a focus on quality training, human resource development, and diversification of opportunities, the ‘Tamkeen’ pathway exemplifies the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its workforce and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
