A recent statement made by senior Iranian official Kamal Kharazi claiming that Bahrain is not an Arab nation has sparked outrage in the Kingdom. Members of the Council of Representatives in Bahrain have staunchly defended the country’s Arab heritage and condemned Kharazi’s remarks as an attempt to distort history and interfere in Bahrain’s internal affairs. They pointed to Bahrain’s long-standing Arab roots, the UN-supervised referendum affirming its Arab status, and the Kingdom’s establishment as an Arab Islamic state in 1783.

The backlash against Kharazi’s comments threatens to heighten tensions in the Gulf region and complicate ongoing efforts to improve relations between Bahrain and Iran. MPs in Bahrain have expressed their anger at what they see as blatant falsehoods designed to cause division. They have called on regional and international bodies to respond strongly to such provocations in order to maintain peace and stability in the Gulf.

MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen, Deputy Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committee, criticized Kharazi’s remarks as a breach of international norms and an unwarranted interference in Bahrain’s affairs. Other MPs, such as Khalid Saleh Buanaq, cited historical events such as Bahrain’s founding in 1783 and the 1970 independence survey as evidence of the country’s Arab identity. They believe Kharazi’s claims are merely a distraction from Iran’s internal issues.

Members of the Council of Representatives in Bahrain have called for unity in the face of Iran’s attempts to undermine the Kingdom’s position in the Arab world. They stress the importance of the international community standing by Bahrain and rejecting any attempts to stir up discord in the region. As tensions between Bahrain and Iran continue, MPs are united in their rejection of Tehran’s efforts to interfere in Bahrain’s internal affairs and maintain regional stability.

In conclusion, the recent controversy surrounding Iran’s assertion that Bahrain is not an Arab nation has caused outrage in the Kingdom. MPs in Bahrain have been vocal in defending the country’s Arab heritage and condemning what they see as an attempt by Iran to distort history and interfere in Bahrain’s internal affairs. The situation threatens to escalate tensions in the Gulf region and complicate efforts to improve relations between the two countries. MPs are calling for unity and collective action to prevent further interference and maintain peace and stability in the region.
