The Musandam Lodge project was recently launched in Muscat, with the aim of encouraging investments in establishing and developing tourist lodges in coastal and mountain villages in line with international standards. The project was initiated during a workshop organized by the Oman College of Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Musandam Branch. The event was held under the patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam. Several papers were presented during the workshop highlighting the significance of tourist lodges in Oman and the importance of developing them for tourism growth.
Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed Al Mahrazi, Dean of the Oman College of Tourism, emphasized the crucial role of tourist lodges in advancing the tourism sector. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism also presented a paper discussing the laws and regulations governing tourist lodges. Sultan Qaboos University contributed a presentation on the importance of tourist lodges in sustainable tourism and the preservation of natural resources, as well as studies on international best practices in this area. Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, outlined the objectives of the Musandam Lodge project, including meeting the rising demand for tourist accommodation in the governorate and promoting local and international tourism through diverse lodging options.
Additionally, the project aims to enhance Musandam’s position as a prominent tourist destination and encourage residents and small to medium enterprises to invest in the tourism sector. This initiative is expected to create job opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry for local residents. Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi highlighted the strategic role of the project in supporting the governorate’s vision for tourism sector development, which in turn contributes to the local economy. He urged investors from Musandam to take advantage of available investment opportunities and incentives to develop tourist lodge projects. The Musandam Lodge project is set to play a crucial role in driving tourism growth and economic development in the region.
