King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) recently signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to provide $25 million in food aid to the most vulnerable families in Yemen. The agreement aims to distribute 13,798 tons of essential food items and activities to strengthen resilience in participating families. This initiative is expected to benefit over half a million individuals directly and an additional 57,313 people indirectly across several governorates in Yemen, including Hudaydah, Dhale, Marib, Al-Bayda, Hadhramaut, Al-Mahrah, and Socotra.

The agreement, signed during the Donors’ Conference to Support Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Sahel and Lake Chad Region in Jeddah, highlights the Kingdom’s dedication to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis and improving food security in the region. Additionally, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, met with WFP Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau to discuss the progress of KSrelief-WFP projects, which focus on providing essential food aid and enhancing living conditions in needy communities.

The cooperation agreement between KSrelief and WFP will focus on establishing and rehabilitating resources to support the food chain over six cycles. Activities will include the rehabilitation of agricultural lands, construction of water barriers, and provision of equipment for fishermen in Yemen. This program aims to not only provide immediate food aid to vulnerable families but also to strengthen their resilience and improve their living conditions in the long term.

The agreement between KSrelief and WFP underscores the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts in Yemen and the region. The initiative to provide food aid and bolster resilience in vulnerable communities demonstrates the Kingdom’s dedication to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Through collaborative efforts with organizations like WFP, KSrelief is able to make a significant impact in improving the lives of those in need.

During the signing ceremony of the agreement, attended by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and WFP’s Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau, both parties discussed the importance of the initiative and the positive impact it will have on vulnerable families in Yemen. Skau commended the Kingdom’s significant humanitarian efforts through KSrelief and praised the well-organized conference and the productive discussions that occurred on the sidelines of the event.

Overall, the cooperation agreement between KSrelief and WFP to provide $25 million in food aid to vulnerable families in Yemen signifies a major step towards alleviating the suffering of those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. This initiative not only aims to provide immediate relief in the form of essential food items but also seeks to strengthen resilience and improve living conditions in vulnerable communities in Yemen. Through collaborative efforts with organizations like WFP, KSrelief is able to make a meaningful impact in supporting those in need and enhancing food security in the region.
