The UAE’s Healthcare System: A Model of Compassionate Care

Ajith Kannadi, a long-time UAE resident, recently shared his positive experience undergoing surgery to remove an umbilical hernia at Aster Hospital in Sharjah. Reflecting on his time at the hospital, Ajith expressed gratitude towards the medical team for their exceptional care, which exceeded his expectations. He emphasized that the level of care he received made him feel at home rather than in a hospital.

For Ajith, the medical treatment he received extended beyond just physical care; it was about the compassion and professionalism showcased by the healthcare providers at every stage of his treatment. He stressed the importance of trust between a patient and a doctor and highlighted the UAE’s ability to create a calm, patient-centric environment that significantly contributed to his speedy recovery. These sentiments echo the feelings of many UAE residents who have experienced the exceptional healthcare services in the country.

The UAE’s healthcare system continues to earn the trust and confidence of its residents, evident from a recent report by Brand Finance indicating that 81 per cent of UAE residents express high satisfaction with the healthcare services available in the country. This high level of satisfaction underscores the quality and accessibility of care provided across the Emirates, positioning the UAE as a leader in healthcare excellence.

Aysha Kola, an Ajman resident, also shared her positive experience with the UAE healthcare system during the delivery of her son. Despite initially considering traveling to her home country for the birth, Aysha opted to stay in the UAE and chose Thumbay University Hospital for its advanced medical facilities. She praised the seamless experience of her check-ups and delivery, emphasizing the kindness of the doctors and the exceptional care provided by the nurses.

The personal touch Aysha received during her time at the hospital reflects the culture of care deeply embedded in the UAE’s healthcare sector. Beyond the advanced medical technology, Aysha highlighted the support and compassion she received from the healthcare professionals, making her childbirth experience truly unforgettable. This emphasis on the human aspect of healthcare further solidifies the UAE’s reputation as a hub for outstanding medical services.

The UAE’s healthcare system is not only benefiting its residents but also attracting patients from around the world seeking advanced treatments and procedures. The combination of cutting-edge technology, skilled professionals, and compassionate care has positioned the UAE as a top destination for medical tourism. Patients like Alexander Ishaku, a 68-year-old Nigerian, have sought specialized care in the UAE for conditions that require expert attention.

Alexander’s journey to recovery following a severe car accident and existing health condition of left-side hemiplegia led him to Thumbay Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital in the UAE. Through an intensive rehabilitation program that included hydrotherapy and robotic gait training, Alexander made significant progress in just four weeks, enabling him to stand and walk with assistance. His wife expressed gratitude for the world-class care they received in the UAE, showcasing the life-changing impact of the healthcare services provided.

The UAE’s reputation as a trusted destination for healthcare is reinforced by stories like Alexander’s, highlighting the country’s ability to cater to a wide range of medical needs with compassion and expertise. With the government’s ongoing investment in state-of-the-art technology and preventive healthcare initiatives, the UAE’s healthcare system is poised for further improvement. The focus on innovation and patient care ensures a bright future for residents and medical tourists seeking quality healthcare in the UAE.
