If you’re tired of hidden prices and awkward cashier moments while shopping, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Bahrain has taken a stand to protect consumers. In response to widespread complaints about unclear pricing and uncomfortable checkout situations, the Ministry has mandated that all prices must be clearly displayed not only in physical stores but also on social media pages and websites. This new rule aims to eliminate hidden fees and prevent any surprises at checkout, ensuring transparency for shoppers.

Under the new regulations, signs stating “no returns or exchanges” are strictly prohibited. Additionally, when goods are showcased online, customers have a legal period of 15 days from the date of receipt to inspect the product, as stipulated by Law No. 35 of 2012 regarding consumer protection. It is also forbidden to display phrases like “sold goods are not returnable or exchangeable” on sales pages, ensuring that consumers have the right to return or exchange items if necessary.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has emphasized that price advertising requirements extend beyond physical stores to include social media pages and online store websites. This means that all prices must be clearly displayed across all platforms where goods are being sold, providing consumers with the information they need to make informed purchasing decisions. By enforcing these regulations, the Ministry is standing up for consumers and working to ensure fair and transparent shopping experiences for all.
