Coco Gauff, the world number six tennis player from the United States, has identified improving her serve as her main focus ahead of the China Open. Gauff recently added Matt Daly to her coaching team, alongside her long-time mentor Jean-Christophe Faurel. The decision to focus on her serve comes after a disappointing defeat in the fourth round of the US Open, where she produced 19 double faults. Gauff believes that her serve is the foundation of her game and that making subtle changes will lead to significant improvements. She is excited to work with Daly, who previously coached Denis Shapovalov, and is looking forward to enhancing other aspects of her game.

Through an interview with WTA Insider in Beijing, Gauff expressed her eagerness to work on her serve and mentioned that serving well leads to better overall performance on the court. She emphasized that she does not plan on making drastic changes to her technique but rather focusing on small adjustments that will enhance her game. Gauff believes that the work she has done so far with Daly has already made a noticeable difference, showcasing the potential for growth and improvement in her game. She remains optimistic about the partnership with Daly and the potential it holds for her future success on the professional circuit.

After parting ways with her former coach Brad Gilbert, Gauff is embracing the opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to refine her skills with Daly by her side. She acknowledges the positive working relationship she had with Gilbert but feels that it was time for a reset and a change that will help her elevate her game in the upcoming season. Gauff is determined to build on her achievements and develop her game further under the guidance of Daly and Faurel. She is focused on making the necessary adjustments to ensure a successful season next year and is excited about the new possibilities that lie ahead.

Gauff’s upcoming match against Clara Burel in the China Open will be a test of the improvements she has made in her game, particularly in her serve. As she prepares to face tough competitors in the tournament, Gauff is looking forward to showcasing her skills and the progress she has made under the guidance of her coaching team. With a renewed focus on her serve and a positive outlook on her game, Gauff is determined to make the most of the opportunities that come her way and continue to evolve as a top-ranked player on the WTA tour. Her partnership with Daly and Faurel signals a new chapter in her career, marked by growth, development, and a commitment to excellence on the tennis court.
