In 2023, Saudi Arabia had a total of 31,231 schools, with public schools accounting for 78.1 percent of the total number. The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released the 2023 Services Statistics Bulletin, which also highlighted the presence of private schools, Saudi Red Crescent centers, Civil Defense centers, and mosques across the Kingdom. Additionally, there were 1,161 hotels, 983 travel and tourism agencies, 48 public libraries, 24 youth hostels, and 22 sports cities and stadiums. The Kingdom also had 29 airports accommodating over 800,000 flights.

According to GASTAT, Saudi Arabia has 17 municipal authorities, 267 municipalities, and 129 sub-municipalities spread throughout all administrative regions. The General Authority for Awqaf and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture oversee multiple branches and offices nationwide. Furthermore, there are 36 industrial cities with 3,819 operational factories, along with 256 branches and offices of the Ministerial Agency of Civil Affairs handling millions of transactions for beneficiaries.

The report also highlighted the presence of 1,901 commercial bank branches and over 15,000 ATMs, as well as 98 branches of chambers of commerce. Other services included 103 social security offices, 40 social development centers, 38 labor offices, and 23 branches and offices of the General Organization for Social Insurance. The Social Development Bank and Agricultural Development Fund also operate numerous branches to serve the population.

The 2023 Services Statistics Bulletin aims to document the availability of services in Saudi Arabia and provide detailed data based on regions, governorates, centers, and population clusters. This comprehensive report showcases the extensive network of schools, government agencies, financial institutions, and other service providers that contribute to the infrastructure and development of the Kingdom. As Saudi Arabia continues to grow and diversify its economy, these services play a crucial role in supporting the needs of its residents and promoting overall prosperity and well-being.

In addition to educational institutions and government agencies, the Kingdom’s service sector also encompasses a wide range of facilities catering to tourism, hospitality, and leisure. With over 1,000 hotels, travel agencies, sports cities, and museums, Saudi Arabia offers a diverse array of options for visitors and residents alike. The presence of airports, roads, and transportation services further enhances the accessibility and connectivity within the Kingdom, facilitating domestic and international travel.

Overall, the 2023 Services Statistics Bulletin reflects the ongoing efforts of Saudi Arabia to enhance its service infrastructure and meet the diverse needs of its population. By providing comprehensive data on the availability and distribution of services, the report serves as a valuable resource for policymakers, businesses, and stakeholders seeking to understand and support the Kingdom’s economic and social development. As Saudi Arabia continues to invest in its service sector and expand its service offerings, it is well-positioned to further strengthen its position as a regional hub for commerce, tourism, and innovation.
