Flow, the Layer-1 home to NBA Top Shot, has recently upgraded its mainnet to EVM equivalency and announced that Google and Ubisoft are now node operators on the network. The Crescendo upgrade is now live on the Flow mainnet, enabling Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) equivalency for seamless, multi-chain interoperability. This upgrade is expected to power a wide variety of next-generation applications on the network. Additionally, Flow now features smart contracts in the programming language Cadence 1.0, designed for managing digital assets, including crypto, on-chain art, and collectibles. The team behind Flow claims that this latest upgrade drives forward network scalability, security, decentralization, and establishes sturdier foundations for developers and businesses.

Roham Gharegozlou, the co-founder and CEO of Dapper Labs, the team behind Flow, emphasized the utility and hard work that went into engineering the Crescendo upgrade. This update has elevated Flow to a more composable interoperable network, enabling EVM builders to build directly on the network and allowing assets to move seamlessly across Flow and other EVM-compatible ecosystems. The team also announced the Flow Community Rewards program, aiming to help developers attract users by rewarding valuable participation across the network. Users can earn rewards when engaging with applications, such as trades, sales, or added liquidity. Developers who contribute new applications and protocols can also earn perks through this program, encouraging interactions that align with mutual growth on the network.

With the introduction of both the Community Rewards and the Crescendo upgrade, Flow extends powerful capabilities to Ethereum developers, including gasless and scripted transactions that reduce friction and create smoother user interactions with apps. The cumulative effect of these upgrades involving Crescendo and Cadence results in a superior experience for both builders and users within the Flow ecosystem, poised for accelerated growth. The Flow World Tour, a series of virtual and onsite hackathons and events, is set to begin this month and run until the end of the year. Developers are invited to build the next killer app on the network, with live and virtual events in major cities around the world. Flow is home to popular creators such as Genies, Cryptoys, and Dapper Labs, with over 40 million people having used a product on Flow to date.

In conclusion, Flow’s recent upgrades and partnerships with companies like Google and Ubisoft signal a significant step forward for the network in terms of scalability, security, and interoperability. The Crescendo upgrade and Cadence smart contracts provide a foundation for developers and businesses to create innovative applications and services on the network. The Flow Community Rewards program incentivizes user engagement and developer contributions, fostering growth and collaboration within the ecosystem. With the Flow World Tour about to kick off, developers around the world have the opportunity to leverage Flow’s capabilities and build the next generation of decentralized applications. Overall, Flow’s ongoing advancements and initiatives position it as a key player in the blockchain space, poised for further growth and innovation.
