In Doha, Qatar, the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and Lapis Group have joined forces to launch the Youm Jadeed (New Day) initiative. This project is dedicated to providing educational and psychosocial support to Palestinian children, particularly those in war-torn Gaza. The program aims to address the challenges faced by the Palestinian education system due to ongoing conflict and disruptions to formal schooling in areas like the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem.
Over the next seven months, the partners will produce and broadcast 90 original episodes of the Youm Jadeed radio program targeting children aged 7-11 and their caregivers. The content will focus on important themes such as literacy, health, and emotional resilience through entertaining and drama-based storylines. The program will be broadcasted on FM radio in Arabic across Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, accompanied by a digital dissemination strategy leveraging online, mobile, and social media platforms to reach a wide audience.
The partnership between EAA Foundation and Lapis Group seeks to provide vital educational resources and support to Palestinian children in need. By creating engaging content and utilizing innovative technologies and platforms, the Youm Jadeed project aims to reach as many children, caregivers, and educators as possible throughout Palestine. The program will also offer supplementary resources for practitioners and caregivers to deepen engagement and maximize the impact of the audio content, while seeking feedback to continuously improve outcomes.
Fahed Al-Sulaiti, CEO of Education Above All Foundation, emphasizes the importance of the program in providing uninterrupted access to education for communities in need. With EAA Foundation’s global reach impacting over 19 million beneficiaries in 60 countries, the partnership is committed to fostering knowledge and skills that uplift individuals and build resilience. Education is seen as a cornerstone of growth, and through this collaboration, the goal is to create lasting impact for those who need it most, paving the way for a brighter future.
Alex Thier, CEO of Lapis Group, expresses the belief that all children deserve access to high-quality education and social and emotional support. The Youm Jadeed project was specifically designed to meet the needs of Palestinian students and their communities, helping them learn and become more resilient in times of hardship and trauma. By leveraging Lapis Group’s expertise in reaching children in crises with educational content and EAA’s commitment to inclusive education, the project aims to engage local and international stakeholders to maximize impact.
Education Above All Foundation is dedicated to promoting social cohesion, peace, and prosperity for marginalized communities through education. With a network of over 100 partners, the foundation works to uphold the right to education in alignment with the United Nations Development Goals, particularly in conflict-affected regions where seven million beneficiaries live in conflict zones. The Youm Jadeed project represents a collaboration between EAA Foundation and Lapis Group to empower Palestinian children and ensure they have access to quality education and support in the face of adversity.
