Dubai is set to launch a unified population registry that will serve as a centralised, real-time database of residents in the emirate. Issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the resolution aims to create the “Unified Registry of the Population of the Emirate of Dubai” on the digital platform of the Dubai Data and Statistics Corporation. This database will be the official source of population data for Dubai, facilitating the preparation of government plans, strategies, and policies.

The establishment of this population registry is a significant step towards enhancing government services and programmes in Dubai. By providing a comprehensive database, it will enable government entities to improve their services and plan for the future population growth. The registry will also play a crucial role in forecasting population trends, guiding economic and social policies, and ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of residents in the emirate.

The management of the population registry will be overseen by the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, which will coordinate with various government entities to gather the necessary data. The entity will also be responsible for designing, updating, and linking the registry with other records, as well as ensuring data security in collaboration with the Dubai Cyber Security Center. This unified approach will help streamline data management and enhance the overall efficiency of government operations.

The launch of the population registry aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart city and leveraging technology to improve the quality of life for residents. With a centralised database, government entities will have access to accurate and up-to-date population information, enabling them to make informed decisions and develop targeted strategies. This initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to innovation and excellence in governance, setting a precedent for other cities to follow.

In conclusion, the creation of a unified population registry in Dubai represents a significant milestone in the emirate’s journey towards digital transformation and smart governance. By centralising population data and leveraging technology, Dubai is paving the way for more efficient government services, data-driven decision-making, and improved overall quality of life for residents. This initiative underscores Dubai’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and excellence in governance, setting a new standard for cities around the world. With the launch of the population registry, Dubai is poised to harness the power of data and technology to drive sustainable development and enhance the well-being of its residents.
