Dubai Ruler invites nominations for the second round of ‘Great Arab Minds’ Awards

The Great Arab Minds Award, an initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to celebrate and appreciate the achievements of Arab individuals and institutions. Nominations for the second round of the award are now open, with six categories including medicine, engineering, economics, natural sciences, architecture, and literature. The winners of each category will receive Dh1 million, totaling a prize pool of Dh6 million. The initiative is often referred to as the ‘Arab Nobel Prize’ and was established with a budget of Dh100 million.

The award seeks to enhance the confidence of Arab individuals in their potential and capabilities, with the goal of shaping the future through recognizing their achievements. The judging panel for the Great Arab Minds Award includes ministers, officials, experts, and specialists from the UAE, the Arab world, and beyond. Evaluation criteria for nominations include achievements, certificates, patents, publications, research, and projects. The winners will be selected through a final competitive round after initial evaluations.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Committee overseeing the Great Arab Minds initiative, emphasized the importance of reigniting the scientific leadership of the Arab world through the initiative. Al Gergawi encouraged academic, cultural, and knowledge institutions, as well as individuals, to nominate exceptional Arabs with outstanding achievements. The initiative aims to attract talented Arabs back to the region to contribute to development, innovation, and creativity.

The Great Arab Minds Award is a platform to highlight the achievements and contributions of Arab individuals and institutions in various fields. By recognizing excellence in medicine, engineering, technology, economics, natural sciences, architecture, and literature, the initiative aims to inspire confidence and empower Arab minds to continue shaping the future. With a total prize pool of Dh6 million, the award celebrates and supports the significant impact of Arab talent on a global scale.

Nominations for the Great Arab Minds Award are open until October 31, 2024, providing an opportunity for deserving individuals and institutions to be recognized for their accomplishments. The initiative serves as a catalyst for promoting innovation, creativity, and scientific contributions from the Arab world. By acknowledging the achievements of outstanding Arabs, the award aims to inspire future generations and encourage the exchange of knowledge and expertise within the region and beyond.

The Great Arab Minds Award celebrates excellence and innovation in various fields, highlighting the significant contributions of Arab individuals to society and the world at large. Through recognizing outstanding achievements in medicine, engineering, technology, economics, natural sciences, architecture, and literature, the award aims to inspire a new generation of Arab leaders and innovators. Nominations for the award are now open, providing a platform to showcase the talent and potential of Arab minds and further elevate the region’s scientific and cultural contributions.
