Takahiro Mogi, a Japanese restaurateur in Dubai, is on a mission to spread Kodawari, the pursuit of perfection, through his authentic Japanese restaurants. Kodawari, deeply ingrained in Japanese culture, guides every aspect of life, including work, personal development, and social relationships. Mogi believes in boosting human resources development by empowering employees through continuous learning and education. He ensures that his staff not only serve world-class cuisine but also advance their careers through a study programme designed to inspire them to provide top-tier service.

With over 200 employees across his various restaurants in Dubai, Mogi provides free courses in culinary arts, project management, accounting, and other skills to his staff in partnership with learning institutes. The company covers tuition and relevant fees, reflecting his commitment to continuous improvement and excellence. Mogi believes that happy employees lead to happy customers, emphasizing the importance of employee satisfaction in achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

Mogi’s belief in the importance of improving employee abilities for the company’s core strength stems from his own experience of starting as a part-time employee at a Japanese restaurant at 16. Filipino chefs like Gary Pangilinan and Noah Jay Cantuia have benefitted from advanced culinary arts education provided by the company, helping them rise in their careers. Cielo Ann Luboton, a waitress, is pursuing online computer courses to take on further roles in the company like administrative or office work.

Two sisters, Angelica and Janica, who work as servers, are studying business management with the goal of opening their own restaurant in the future. Mogi’s strategy aims to encourage his staff to become more dedicated at work and pursue their dreams of starting their own businesses, whether in the UAE or their home countries. He is open to investing in their potential business ideas and wants them to set high standards for themselves, continuously raising the bar and striving for Kodawari.

In conclusion, Takahiro Mogi’s approach to employee development and empowerment in his Japanese restaurants in Dubai reflects his commitment to spreading the concept of Kodawari. By investing in his staff’s education and advancement, Mogi aims to not only provide excellent service but also inspire his employees to pursue their career goals and entrepreneurial dreams. His philosophy highlights the importance of employee satisfaction in achieving customer satisfaction, emphasizing the interconnectedness of employee well-being and business success. Through continuous learning and improvement, Mogi’s staff are equipped with the skills and motivation to excel in their roles and beyond.
