Bus commuters in Dubai can now expect a smoother and more efficient travel experience, thanks to a partnership between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and American transit data provider Swiftly. This collaboration aims to enhance the accuracy of RTA’s Real-Time Passenger Information system (RTPI), allowing passengers to access real-time bus locations, traffic updates, delays, and service disruptions through various smart applications, including RTA’s S’hail app and third-party Journey Planner platforms. With access to this real-time information, passengers can better plan their schedules, know exactly when to reach the bus stop, and avoid long waits or missed buses.

The new platform utilizes advanced big data technologies to improve bus arrival predictions, ensuring that passengers receive accurate and timely information about their bus routes. According to Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the partnership with Swiftly aims to enhance customer awareness of real-time bus locations and potential delays caused by traffic conditions, accidents, or other external factors. By leveraging big data solutions, the collaboration aims to provide more precise bus arrival predictions, ultimately helping passengers avoid missing buses or waiting for extended periods.

Jonathan Simkin, Co-founder and CEO of Swiftly, expressed excitement about the partnership with RTA Dubai and the opportunity to enhance the rider experience. The collaboration has already led to a significant 24% improvement in the accuracy of Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), resulting in more passengers catching their buses and enjoying a seamless travel experience with RTA Dubai’s services. Simkin emphasized that this partnership is just the beginning and looks forward to expanding their work with RTA Dubai and potentially other regions to improve the passenger experience for millions of riders.

As part of the partnership, the RTA aims to provide bus commuters with up-to-date information and insights that can help them plan their journeys more effectively. By knowing the exact location of buses in real-time, passengers can better coordinate their schedules, avoid unnecessary delays, and optimize their travel experience. The integration of Swiftly’s technology into the RTA’s existing infrastructure will enhance the accuracy and reliability of bus arrival predictions, ultimately benefiting passengers and improving overall public transportation efficiency in Dubai.

The collaboration between RTA Dubai and Swiftly underscores the commitment of both organizations to leveraging innovative solutions to enhance the public transportation experience for commuters in the region. By harnessing the power of big data and real-time information, the partnership aims to provide passengers with accurate and reliable updates on bus locations, delays, and traffic conditions, empowering them to make informed decisions about their travel plans. With a focus on improving the accuracy of bus arrival predictions, the partnership seeks to make bus travel more efficient, convenient, and seamless for passengers in Dubai.

In conclusion, the partnership between RTA Dubai and Swiftly represents a significant advancement in the realm of public transportation services in the region. By integrating cutting-edge technology and big data solutions, the collaboration aims to improve the accuracy of bus arrival predictions, enhance the overall passenger experience, and make bus travel in Dubai more efficient and reliable. As the partnership continues to evolve and expand, it is expected to benefit millions of bus commuters in Dubai by providing them with real-time information, reducing delays, and ensuring a more seamless and enjoyable travel experience.
