Carnegie Mellon Qatar Marks Two Decades of Influence

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) is celebrating its 20th anniversary at Education City, reflecting on the impact it has made over the past two decades. As the longest-serving dean of CMU-Q, Michael Trick emphasizes the partnership with Qatar Foundation, highlighting the transformative power of education that has shaped a unique campus community that remains true to the Carnegie Mellon spirit.

Since its establishment in 2004, CMU-Q has graduated over 1,300 students in disciplines such as biological sciences, business administration, computer science, and information systems. Currently, more than 450 students are pursuing degrees at the campus, contributing to Qatar’s knowledge economy and promoting a culture of learning and innovation. The alumni of CMU-Q have excelled in various fields, showcasing the impact of the education they received at the university.

Looking towards the future, Trick is optimistic about the evolving Carnegie Mellon experience, with new opportunities for learning, research, and exploration of technologies. As CMU-Q opens applications for students starting in the fall of 2025, the campus is poised to continue its legacy of providing a world-class education and shaping future leaders in Qatar and beyond.
