On January 1, 2025, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting in Doha. During the meeting, several important decisions were made to further enhance the country’s policies and partnerships.

One of the key decisions made by the Cabinet was to approve a draft law on artists and artistic professions. This draft law was prepared by the Ministry of Culture in line with the state’s Third National Development Strategy. The objective of this law is to support and develop the creative sectors in Qatar, ensuring the sustainability of artists’ creativity by regulating the practice of their professions.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the necessary measures to ratify a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for economic, trade, and technical cooperation between Qatar and Colombia. This MoU signifies a commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries and exploring opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.

Moreover, the Cabinet approved a draft agreement on organizing the regional conference on the preservation of documentary heritage, Doha 2025, in collaboration with UNESCO. This agreement highlights Qatar’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and promoting cooperation in the field of documentary heritage preservation.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a draft agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports between Qatar and Rwanda. This agreement aims to facilitate travel and enhance diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In addition, the Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of labor and human resources development between the Ministry of Labor in Qatar and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE. This MoU emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the two countries in the area of labor and human resources development.

Lastly, the Cabinet reviewed three reports during the meeting, which included a report on the progress of implementing localization and replacement plans in government jobs, outcomes of participating in the 101st session of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization, and outcomes of participating in the 41st session of the Saudi Agricultural Exhibition. The Cabinet made appropriate decisions based on these reports to further enhance the country’s policies and partnerships.
