Cabinet approves draft Amiri Decision aimed at enhancing Qatar Tourism functions

The Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani recently approved a draft Amiri Decision amending provisions of Amiri Decision No. (15) of 2021, which established Qatar Tourism. The purpose of this draft decision is to strengthen the functions of Qatar Tourism to support and develop the tourism sector through partnerships with the private sector. Additionally, the Cabinet approved draft laws amending provisions of Law No. (20) of 2018 regarding tourism and Law No. (21) of 2018 regulating business events. These amendments aim to enable Qatar Tourism to implement a new tourism strategy.

Furthermore, the Cabinet commended the successful outcome of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani’s European tour, which included visits to Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The talks and agreements signed during the tour highlighted the commitment of Qatar to strengthening friendship ties with these countries and established opportunities for expanding investment partnerships and enhancing cooperation on regional and international issues. This visit marked a new phase of cooperation between Qatar and the three European nations across various sectors.

During the meeting, the Cabinet also approved a draft law extending the concession granted to the Qatar Ports Management Company. Additionally, a draft decision regarding the regulation of conditions and procedures for licensing the recruitment of foreign workers on behalf of others was approved. The Cabinet also discussed the disadvantages of technology use by young people, based on a proposal from the Shura Council, and considered the views of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology before making a decision.

In addition, the Cabinet ratified a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of public prosecution between the Public Prosecution in Qatar and the Office of the Attorney General in El Salvador. This agreement aims to enhance collaboration and strengthen ties between the two entities. Overall, the decisions made during the Cabinet meeting reflect Qatar’s commitment to enhancing various sectors, including tourism, labor regulations, and international cooperation.

In conclusion, the recent Cabinet meeting in Doha led by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani focused on approving important draft decisions and laws to support the development of Qatar’s tourism sector. The meeting also highlighted the successful European tour of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani and the agreements signed during the visits to Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The decisions made during the meeting also included extending a concession to a ports management company, regulating foreign worker recruitment, addressing technology use by young people, and ratifying a cooperation agreement in the field of public prosecution with El Salvador. These decisions reflect Qatar’s commitment to advancing various sectors and promoting international cooperation.
