The construction sector in Bahrain is experiencing significant growth, with investments expected to reach $3.04 billion by the end of 2024. This growth is driven by major investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and oil and gas projects, aligning with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. Despite a slight decline in 2023 due to factors such as rising interest rates and project delays, the sector saw robust growth in 2022, fueled by infrastructure projects and real estate expansion.

The Market Research Future report on Bahrain’s construction sector highlights the increasing construction activity in various sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure. This growth is leading to a surge in demand for services, materials, and skilled labor, with a focus on technological innovation and sustainable practices to optimize resources, enhance project efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.

The government’s initiative to promote affordable housing and urban development is attracting both domestic and international investors to the construction sector. With a continuous demand for housing, the sector is expected to maintain its strong position in the market. Major projects launched in 2024, such as the Bahrain Metro project, Salman Industrial City, and Salmaniya Medical Complex expansion, are aimed at enhancing public transportation, boosting the industrial sector, improving healthcare facilities, and increasing capacity.

These ambitious projects are set to drive further growth in the construction sector, creating employment opportunities and contributing to the overall economic development of Bahrain. Additionally, road and bridge development projects, including the construction of a fourth causeway connecting Muharraq and Manama, road improvements leading to the airport, and the development of a sports city, are expected to further enhance infrastructure in the country. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and government support, Bahrain’s construction sector is poised for continued growth and development.
