The Sultanate of Oman’s total imports of vehicle spare parts declined by 11.8 percent to OMR44,695,140 by the end of the first five months of 2024. The United Arab Emirates was the top country supplying spare parts to Oman, followed by Japan, India, Thailand, and China. On the other hand, the total value of Oman’s exports of vehicle spare parts saw a growth of 27.04 percent to OMR9,868,483 during the same period. The total weight of vehicle spare part exports from Oman also increased significantly compared to 2023.

The Czech Republic was the top country importing vehicle spare parts from Oman by the end of May 2024, followed by the United States of Mexico, the Netherlands, the United States of America, and the United Arab Emirates. However, the value of vehicle spare part re-exports from Oman dropped by 65.66 percent to OMR11,125,786 compared to the same period in 2023. The UAE was the top country to which vehicle spare parts were re-exported from Oman, followed by Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the United States of America.

There were a total of 1,527 establishments operating in the sale of vehicle spare parts in Oman by the end of April 2024. Among these establishments, 856 were engaged in the sale of new spare parts for vehicles, while 671 were involved in the retail sale of used spare parts. Overall, the spare parts industry in Oman continues to play a significant role in the country’s economy, with both imports and exports contributing to the overall growth and development of the sector.

The decrease in imports of vehicle spare parts in Oman by the end of May 2024 suggests a possible shift in consumer demand or a decline in the need for new parts. This could be attributed to various factors such as economic conditions, changes in vehicle ownership patterns, or improvements in vehicle maintenance practices. On the other hand, the growth in exports of vehicle spare parts indicates a potential increase in production capacity or competitiveness of Omani spare part manufacturers in the global market.

The top countries involved in the import and export of vehicle spare parts with Oman highlight the importance of international trade partnerships in the spare parts industry. The United Arab Emirates, Japan, and the Czech Republic are key players in supplying and importing vehicle spare parts with Oman, showcasing the global nature of the industry. Oman’s strategic location and well-established trade relationships contribute to its position as a key player in the spare parts market in the region.

As the spare parts industry in Oman continues to evolve, businesses and establishments operating in this sector will need to adapt to changing market dynamics and consumer preferences. Innovations in technology, supply chain management, and marketing strategies will play a crucial role in the growth and sustainability of the industry. Furthermore, continued collaboration with international partners and investments in research and development will be essential for Oman to maintain its competitive edge in the global spare parts market.
