Bahraini space engineer Aysha Al Haram made history by becoming the first Bahraini and Arab to win the prestigious “Young Space Leaders” award at the 75th International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Italy. Al Haram, who is the Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), expressed her joy and pride at the achievement, stating that it was a great honor to raise the flag of Bahrain in front of over 11,000 participants at the congress.

She credited the NSSA for their support and highlighted that the award is a testament to the talents of young Bahrainis. Al Haram emphasized that the recognition is not just for her but is an accomplishment for all Bahrainis aiming to elevate the country’s name internationally. She expressed her motivation to continue working towards more accomplishments that will further raise Bahrain’s profile in the space sector.

The “Young Space Leaders” award is presented annually by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) to young professionals who excel in advancing space sciences. Recipients are chosen based on their scientific research, academic contributions, leadership, and community support through knowledge-sharing. Al Haram’s recognition not only underscores her contributions to the space sector but also positions her as a role model for future generations of Bahraini youth.

Al Haram’s achievement serves as inspiration for young Bahrainis aspiring to make a mark in the global space industry. Her success highlights the potential of Bahraini talent in the field and showcases the country’s commitment to advancing space exploration. By receiving the prestigious award, Al Haram has solidified her position as a leader and trailblazer in the space sector, paving the way for other aspiring professionals to follow in her footsteps.

Moving forward, Al Haram’s win will undoubtedly motivate other Bahraini youth to pursue careers in space science and contribute to the country’s growing presence in the international space community. Her achievement signifies a significant milestone for Bahrain’s space program and underscores the importance of investing in the next generation of space leaders. With Al Haram’s example, Bahrain is poised to make further advancements in space exploration and inspire future generations of Bahraini scientists and engineers.
